- Yahweh is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. - Yahweh will command his loving kindness in the daytime.
In the night his song shall be with me:
a prayer to the God of my life. - Because your loving kindness is better than life,
my lips shall praise you.
So I will bless you while I live.
I will lift up my hands in your name. - You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people; but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am Yahweh.
- Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness; and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.
- If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing.
