- The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him. - The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
- Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow. - The Lord will rescue his servants;
no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. - Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. - As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him. - For he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones. - The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. - ‘Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’
nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ - Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
may your love and faithfulness always protect me. - Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
- The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble. - He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. - If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.
- And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. - Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
- Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. - Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield. - The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
- The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. - You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light. - Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land,
you who do what he commands.
Seek righteousness, seek humility;
perhaps you will be sheltered
on the day of the Lord’s anger. - Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
they will be remembered forever.
Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.
