and your gaze be straight before you. - For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds. - My son, keep your father's commandment,
and forsake not your mother's teaching. - Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the firstfruits of all your produce. - So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
- But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
- If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
- Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones. - Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
