Chinese (traditional)- Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.
- Without counsel plans fail,
but with many advisers they succeed. - As we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
- One's pride will bring him low,
but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. - Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
- For the Lord your God will bless you, as he promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow, and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.
- The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor,
but the lips of a fool consume him. - For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
- Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. - Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
- A wise son makes a glad father,
but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. - The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
- A gentle tongue is a tree of life,
but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. - The hope of the righteous brings joy,
but the expectation of the wicked will perish. - But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
- The wicked earns deceptive wages,
but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward. - All day long he craves and craves,
but the righteous gives and does not hold back. - The young lions suffer want and hunger;
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. - A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion. - But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
- Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but he who hates reproof is stupid. - The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless,
but destruction to evildoers. - For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
- So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.
- But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.Next verse! With image
