But (3/4)

A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor.
But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee. The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not. Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.
A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence.
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish. To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.Evil people get rich for the moment, but the reward of the godly will last.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!
A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.
