- There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Fear God and keep his commandments,

whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—

To him belongs eternal praise. - The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? - Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones. - Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name. - Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in obedience to him. - Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,

- For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
- Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
- So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?” - Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him.
- But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.

Who are you that you fear mere mortals,

in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? - Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
- Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
- Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
