- Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.
- That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
- So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
- Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”
- Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.
- I will never forget your commandments,
for by them you give me life. - I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.
- Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
- The rich can pay a ransom for their lives,
but the poor won’t even get threatened. - And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
- For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
- But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.
- The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
- For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.
- We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
- But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me,
and through each night I sing his songs,
praying to God who gives me life. - Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
- For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
- The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple. - By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
- But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.
- Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer. - Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
- The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble? - But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.Next verse! With image
