- The Lord watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin. - And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
- God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer's;
he makes me tread on my high places. - The Rock, his work is perfect,
for all his ways are justice.
A God of faithfulness and without iniquity,
just and upright is he. - Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory! Selah - And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”
- O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked. - So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.
- So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
- Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;
when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
My foot has held fast to his steps;
I have kept his way and have not turned aside. - And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.
- Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday. - Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. - May he grant you your heart's desire
and fulfill all your plans! - He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
- So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty.
- But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
- And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families.
- Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.
- For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation. - Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
- Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
- Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
