- Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.

Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.
Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. - And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
- And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”

- And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.
- Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.

He delights in every detail of their lives. - The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him. - He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
- For the Lord is our judge,
our lawgiver, and our king.
He will care for us and save us. - When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!
- In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.
- When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
- What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. - When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
- And he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side. The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’
- Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
- Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent;
with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. - He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection. - Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things.
