The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.

Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good.Their ways are futile and foolish. They cut down a tree, and a craftsman carves an idol. They decorate it with gold and silver and then fasten it securely with hammer and nails so it won’t fall over. Their gods are like helpless scarecrows in a cucumber field! They cannot speak, and they need to be carried because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of such gods, for they can neither harm you nor do you any good.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”
