Know (2/4)

  • The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
    but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
  • We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
  • I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
  • For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
  • For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from fornication;
    that each one of you know how to control your own body in holiness and honor,
    not with lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God.
  • So I will display my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.
  • Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
  • All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.
  • Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “no idol in the world really exists,” and that “there is no God but one.”
  • If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
  • For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
  • Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
  • Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.
  • Yet I have been the Lord your God
    ever since the land of Egypt;
    you know no God but me,
    and besides me there is no savior.
  • Know then in your heart that as a parent disciplines a child so the Lord your God disciplines you.
  • Adulterers! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
  • But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  • So that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints.
  • But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.”
  • If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you.
  • Know that wisdom is such to your soul;
    if you find it, you will find a future,
    and your hope will not be cut off.
  • Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.
  • I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
  • Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
  • I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
