Bible Verses about 'Mere'

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love!
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.
For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.
Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me!

Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.Return, faithless Israel, declares the Lord. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
