and only later counting the cost. - Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham.

- Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor;
only fools insist on quarreling. - And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
- God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?
- For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
- And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.

but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning. - Pride leads to conflict;
those who take advice are wise. - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
- Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline;
whoever learns from correction is wise. - Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

- Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
- If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
- And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!
- So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God.
- Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.
- Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him. - So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.
- Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth,
but only the Lord can give an understanding wife. - Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved.
