- He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God. - And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.
- Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.
- Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths. - And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
- Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
- Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value,
but righteousness delivers from death. - Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death. - Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry. - For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. - In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness. - But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
- Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
- Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
- “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
- The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
- Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.
- Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.
- We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
- Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
- God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
- For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
- Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
