- What then should we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
- He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
- Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.”
- So, if they say to you, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look! He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
- But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
- It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,”
and begin to reflect only after making a vow. - For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
- Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
- But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
- You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
- You may say to yourself, “How can we recognize a word that the Lord has not spoken?” If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord but the thing does not take place or prove true, it is a word that the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be frightened by it.
- Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.
- From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
- “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.” - Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.”
- Seek good and not evil,
that you may live;
and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you,
just as you have said. - Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
- Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.”
- Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen.
- Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.”
- “All things are lawful,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.
- Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them.
- Very truly, I tell you, whoever receives one whom I send receives me; and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.
- Hear, my child, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many. - And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
