| And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. | But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love. |

| What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? |

| Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? | Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us. |
| Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. | Don’t say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not ask wisely about this. |
| Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. | Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. |
| And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. | Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are today. |
| Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. | Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. |

| But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. | But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one. |
