| And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. | And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. |
| Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. | No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. |

| What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
| And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. | And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. |
| He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. | He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. |
| And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. | We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him. |
| These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. | I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. |
| And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing. | When anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess in what way they have sinned. |
| And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. | The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these. |
| But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. | But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. |
| Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? | Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have. |
| Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. | Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions. |
| Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. | Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. |
| And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. | The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today. |
| Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. | Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. |
| Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. | Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. |
| These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. | They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. |
| These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. | I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. |
| But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. | But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. |
| Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. | Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. |
| Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein. | Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them. |
| And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. | After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. |
| But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. | All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. |
| These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. | I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. |
| Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. | Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. |
