Thou (3/4)

  • You are altogether beautiful, my love;
    there is no flaw in you.
  • You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin; you shall reprove your neighbor, or you will incur guilt yourself. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
  • When the Lord your God has blessed you, as he promised you, you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.
  • As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the lure of wealth choke the word, and it yields nothing.
  • Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?”
    For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.
  • You are my hiding place and my shield;
    I hope in your word.
  • But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that your fasting may be seen not by others but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  • For God alone my soul waits in silence,
    for my hope is from him.
  • Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
  • When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
    when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
    and the flame shall not consume you.
  • Before the mountains were brought forth,
    or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
  • But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”
  • Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and prosper for us the work of our hands—
    O prosper the work of our hands!
  • Because you are precious in my sight,
    and honored, and I love you,
    I give people in return for you,
    nations in exchange for your life.
  • And those who know your name put their trust in you,
    for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
  • O Lord, you are my God;
    I will exalt you, I will praise your name;
    for you have done wonderful things,
    plans formed of old, faithful and sure.
  • Because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
  • Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace—
    in peace because they trust in you.
  • I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have given me life.
  • You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
  • Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse.
  • I, I am he who comforts you;
    why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
    a human being who fades like grass?
  • I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
  • It is you who light my lamp;
    the Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.
  • But you, O Lord, are a shield around me,
    my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,
and let your glory be over all the earth.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.Next verse!With image
