Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. | Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. | Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. |

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. | For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. |
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. | For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. |
Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. | Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. |
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. | But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. |
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. | Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. |
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. | For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. |
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. | For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. |
So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us. | So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty. |
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. | But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. |
We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments. | We have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. |
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. | So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. |
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. | Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. |
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. | For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. |
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. | For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. |
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. | The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. |
Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. | Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved! |
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. | For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building. |
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. | No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. |
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. | For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord. | Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord. |
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. | We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. |
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. | So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” |
