What (2/4)

  • I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
  • Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.
  • What then should we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet, if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
  • Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
  • When goods increase, those who eat them increase; and what gain has their owner but to see them with his eyes?
  • What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.
  • Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
  • He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”
  • To you, O God of my ancestors,
    I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and power,
and have now revealed to me what we asked of you,
for you have revealed to us what the king ordered.
  • What is desirable in a person is loyalty,
and it is better to be poor than a liar.
  • What then are we to say? Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it?
  • But test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil.
  • But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
    nor the human heart conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him”
  • But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
  • See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
  • But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  • And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
  • But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated.
  • Only fear the Lord, and serve him faithfully with all your heart; for consider what great things he has done for you.
  • So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
  • For what human being knows what is truly human except the human spirit that is within? So also no one comprehends what is truly God's except the Spirit of God.
  • Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops.
  • Be on your guard, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but may receive a full reward.
  • You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am.
  • For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.

Woe to you who strive with your Maker,
earthen vessels with the potter!
Does the clay say to the one who fashions it, “What are you making”?
or “Your work has no handles”?
