- For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.
- No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
- Look at the proud!
Their spirit is not right in them,
but the righteous live by their faith. - See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone's work.
- I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.

without scorching the feet? - The heart is devious above all else;

who can understand it?
I the Lord test the mind
and search the heart,
to give to all according to their ways,
according to the fruit of their doings. - A fool gives full vent to anger,
but the wise quietly holds it back. - The human mind plans the way,
but the Lord directs the steps. - It is honorable to refrain from strife,
but every fool is quick to quarrel. - Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen.
- For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life?
- And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.
- For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you cover them with favor as with a shield. - But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
- Before destruction one's heart is haughty,
but humility goes before honor. - No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.
- For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous will live by faith.”
- It is well with those who deal generously and lend,
who conduct their affairs with justice. - If you conquer, you will be clothed like them in white robes, and I will not blot your name out of the book of life; I will confess your name before my Father and before his angels.
- It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,”
and begin to reflect only after making a vow. - How happy is the one whom God reproves;
therefore do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. - Words spoken by the wise bring them favor,
but the lips of fools consume them. - Praise the Lord!
Happy are those who fear the Lord,
who greatly delight in his commandments.
