Chinese (traditional)He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress, so that I stand ever unshaken. At the time that discipline is received, it always seems painful rather than pleasant, but afterward it yields a harvest of peace and uprightness to those who have been trained by it. Do the things that you have learned, received, and heard from me and that you saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. This rather is the type of fast that I wish:
to loosen the fetters of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to set free those who are oppressed
and to break every yoke. Make every effort to present yourself before God as one who is worthy of his approval, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, but who imparts the word of truth without any alteration. Until now, in my name,
you have not asked for anything.
Ask and you will receive,
so that your joy may be complete. When I sing to you, my lips will rejoice,
and so will my soul, which you have redeemed. Above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or use any oaths at all. Let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No.” Otherwise you may be condemned. For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one man the many will be made righteous. Hope deferred sickens the heart,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. The Lord is my portion, I say to myself;
therefore, I will place my hope in him. He replied, “What is impossible for men is possible for God.” Blessed are those who observe his statutes
and seek him with their whole heart. You will not add to what I command you, nor will you take away from it, so that you might observe the commandments of the Lord, your God, that I am giving you. And ‘to love him with all your heart, and with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself,’ is worth more than any burnt offerings and sacrifices. Whoever gains wisdom loves his own soul;
one who cherishes understanding will prosper. Rend your hearts and not your garments,
and turn back to the Lord, your God.
For he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, rich in kindness,
and always prepared to relent from punishing. The time of fulfillment has arrived, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel. Reflect on the Lord and his strength;
seek his face continually. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice! Keep alert; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. He reserves his wisdom for the upright
and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. Therefore, prepare your minds for action. Be calm and fix your hopes completely on the grace that you will be granted at the revelation of Jesus Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, Jews as well as Greeks, slaves as well as free men, and we were all given the same Spirit to drink. In God alone is my soul at rest;
it is from him that my salvation comes. Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners. All you need to do is to say ‘Yes’ if you mean ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ if you mean ‘No.’ Anything beyond this comes from the evil one. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his mercy endures forever. By his own choice he gave us birth through the way of truth so that we may be a kind of firstfruits of all his creation. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from there we await our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord, our God. To him all the Prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name. After you have suffered for a brief period, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and support you.Next verse!With image
