Bible Verses about the Church

  • And let us consider how to spur one another to love and good works. Do not neglect to attend your assemblies, as some do, but rather encourage one another, especially since you can see the Day approaching.
  • For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another.
  • For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst.
  • For we are God’s coworkers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
  • Every day, united in spirit, they would assemble together in the temple. They would break bread in their homes and share their food with joyful and generous hearts as they praised God, and they were regarded with favor by all the people. And day by day the Lord added to those who were being saved.
  • Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
  • And I say to you: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld will not prevail against it.
  • As a result, you are no longer strangers and foreigners. Rather, you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.
  • And let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it was for this that you were called together in one body. Always be thankful.
  • Let the word of Christ with all its richness dwell in you. Teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with gratitude in your hearts.
  • If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person. For the temple of God is holy, and you are that temple.
  • The body is one, although it has many parts; and all the parts, though many, form one body. So it is with Christ.
  • Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her in order to sanctify her by cleansing her with water and the word.
  • All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in uprightness, so that the man of God may be proficient and equipped for good work of every kind.
  • To him who in all things is able
    through the power
that is at work within us
    to accomplish abundantly far more
than all we can ask or imagine,
to him be glory in the Church
    and in Christ Jesus
    through all generations,
    forever and ever. Amen.
  • Meanwhile, the Church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed peace, building up strength and living in the fear of the Lord. Encouraged by the Holy Spirit, the Church grew in numbers.
  • Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ.
  • I urge you, brethren, to watch out for those who incite dissensions and obstacles in opposition to the teaching that you have learned. Take care to avoid them.
  • However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life.
  • God is faithful, and it is by him that you have been called into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.
  • They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers.
  • For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, Jews as well as Greeks, slaves as well as free men, and we were all given the same Spirit to drink.
  • While Peter was thus imprisoned, the Church prayed fervently to God for him.
  • Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church, the body of which he is the Savior.

Those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand people were added to their number.
