- Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
- If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
- For ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed his offspring.’
- For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live.”
- For thus says the One who is high and lifted up,
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.” - Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name. - Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
- Hear, my son, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many. - The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned. - The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein. - All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
- You shall be holy to me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.
- As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
- I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.
- Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.
- The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
- Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord! - Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
- For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
- For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
- Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
- Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.
- Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith. - His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
- For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
