Righteousness (3/5)

In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me.In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me!
For God would not be so unjust as to ignore your work and the love that you have shown for his name by the services you have rendered to the saints and still continue to render. For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
Preferable is the little that the righteous possess than the great wealth of the wicked. For the power of the wicked will be overcome, but the Lord protects the righteous.Better is the little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.
The lips of the righteous utter words of kindness, but the mouth of the wicked knows only how to pervert. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked, what is perverse.
I rejoice in the Lord with all my heart; my soul exults in my God. For he has clothed me in garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of saving justice, like a bridegroom adorned with a garland or a bride bedecked with her jewels.I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright.Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways, for the devious person is an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render fair judgments, and show kindness and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor. Do not plot evil in your heart against one another. Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
You are the light of the world. A city built upon a mountain cannot be hidden. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways and merciful in everything he does. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works.
Therefore, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one man the many will be made righteous. For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
O Lord, hear my prayer, incline your ear to my supplications. In your faithfulness respond to me with your righteousness.Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
But even so the Lord is waiting to be gracious to you, and he will rise up to grant you his compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
Grant justice to the weak and the orphan; defend the rights of the lowly and the poor.Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
But the one who did not know those wishes, and who acted in such a manner as to deserve a beating, will be beaten less severely. Much will be demanded of a person to whom much has been given, and even more will be asked of a person to whom more has been entrusted. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
Blessings are showered on the head of the righteous, but sorrow will cover the face of the wicked.Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
He reserves his wisdom for the upright and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity.
We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, yet we know that a man is justified not by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ. So we too came to believe in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in him and not by the works of the Law, for no one will be justified by the works of the Law.We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if justification comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing.I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.”So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”
But for you who fear my name the sun of justice will arise with its healing rays. You will emerge leaping like calves released from the stall. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin.For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

Bible verse of the day

And if one should fall,
his companion will help him up.
How pathetic is the man who is alone and falls
and has no one to assist him to his feet.
