So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.
‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun. Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.’Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord.’
A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree— all the trees of the field—are dried up. Surely the people’s joy is withered away.The grapevines have dried up, and the fig trees have withered. The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees— all the fruit trees—have dried up. And the people’s joy has dried up with them.
Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.
