Bible Verses about '17:5'
- A friend is always loyal,
and a brother is born to help in time of need. - But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”
- But consider the joy of those corrected by God!
Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. - For I cried out to him for help,
praising him as I spoke. - As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend. - So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
- The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness. - This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
- Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.
- So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
- Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.
- A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. - Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool;
even less are lies fitting for a ruler. - And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
- Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged;
parents are the pride of their children. - For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
- Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- Love prospers when a fault is forgiven,
but dwelling on it separates close friends. - I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.
- Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.
- From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
- O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed;
if you save me, I will be truly saved.
My praises are for you alone! - People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life,
but those who ignore correction will go astray. - And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
- God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
- And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
- Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent;
with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. - Learn to do good.
Seek justice.
Help the oppressed.
Defend the cause of orphans.
Fight for the rights of widows. - For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
- All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.
- God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.
- The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. - God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
- You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.
- And may the Lord our God show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our efforts successful! - For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
- And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
- I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.
- The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
- O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!
- If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
- Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.
- This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
- Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
- As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.
- It is better to be godly and have little
than to be evil and rich.
For the strength of the wicked will be shattered,
but the Lord takes care of the godly. - If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.
- But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
- And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.
- “They will be my people,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “On the day when I act in judgment, they will be my own special treasure. I will spare them as a father spares an obedient child.”
