| Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. | Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. |
| This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. | Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ |

| But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. | Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. |
| He must increase, but I must decrease. | He must become greater; I must become less. |
| Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. | Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! |

| But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine. | You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. |

| For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end. | We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. |
| And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. | And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. | The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute. | Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor. |
| And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? | Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? |
| But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. | Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave. |
| He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. | Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm. |
| Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. | This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. |
| But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. | Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. | Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless. |
