- Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
- Look! He is coming with the clouds;
every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him;

So it is to be. Amen. - So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
- But I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.
- It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,”

- So, if they say to you, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look! He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
- And whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from one person's envy of another. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
- By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world.
- In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that mortals may not find out anything that will come after them.
- Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
- Keep his statutes and his commandments, which I am commanding you today for your own well-being and that of your descendants after you, so that you may long remain in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.

and night to night declares knowledge. - In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.”
- No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.

Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem!
Lo, your king comes to you;
triumphant and victorious is he,

to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple. - He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
- They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand and knelt before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
- When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart.
- Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths. - Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
- You have the fringe so that, when you see it, you will remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and not follow the lust of your own heart and your own eyes.
- As a deer longs for flowing streams,
so my soul longs for you, O God. - The Lord your God you shall follow, him alone you shall fear, his commandments you shall keep, his voice you shall obey, him you shall serve, and to him you shall hold fast.
- Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will also fast as you do. After that I will go to the king, though it is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.

See if there is any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting. - I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears. - Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within me. - Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me.
- But you, O Bethlehem of Ephrathah,
who are one of the little clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to rule in Israel,
whose origin is from of old,
from ancient days.
