Bible Verses about 'Eye for an eye'
- Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye?
- But as it is written,
“Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear,
which didn’t enter into the heart of man,
these God has prepared for those who love him.” - Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his loving kindness. - I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go.
I will counsel you with my eye on you. - If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
- Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him. All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Even so, Amen.
- He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”
- Why do you set your eyes on that which is not?
For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky. - Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come.
- However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience for an example of those who were going to believe in him for eternal life.
- For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps.
- For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory.
- It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
- For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.
- A fool shows his annoyance the same day,
but one who overlooks an insult is prudent. - Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
- Don’t envy the man of violence.
Choose none of his ways.
For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh,
but his friendship is with the upright. - Now I beg you, brothers, look out for those who are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them.
- Though an army should encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear.
Though war should rise against me,
even then I will be confident. - He who turns away his ear from hearing the law,
even his prayer is an abomination. - Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
- Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.
- Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,
but those who do the truth are his delight. - Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there might be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God.
- House and riches are an inheritance from fathers,
but a prudent wife is from Yahweh. - Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
- He who covers an offense promotes love;
but he who repeats a matter separates best friends. - Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
- But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.”
- You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
- Therefore let’s not judge one another any more, but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block in his brother’s way, or an occasion for falling.
- But let justice roll on like rivers,
and righteousness like a mighty stream. - But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear.
- Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth.
How good is a word at the right time! - The rich man’s wealth is his strong city,
like an unscalable wall in his own imagination. - You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm. Therefore Yahweh your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
- I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
- Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
- Nevertheless in your manifold mercies you didn’t make a full end of them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.
- I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart,
when I learn your righteous judgments. - The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.
- Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.
- Who can find a worthy woman?
For her value is far above rubies. - For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.
- And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
- We know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
- For his anger is but for a moment.
His favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may stay for the night,
but joy comes in the morning. - A truthful witness will not lie,
but a false witness pours out lies. - Teach me your way, Yahweh.
I will walk in your truth.
Make my heart undivided to fear your name.
