Bible Verses about 'Eye for an eye'
- And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
- In the blink of an eye wealth disappears,
for it will sprout wings
and fly away like an eagle. - So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
- That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.” - The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.” - But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love. - Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven.
And everyone will see him—
even those who pierced him.
And all the nations of the world
will mourn for him.
Yes! Amen! - All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
- Give me an eagerness for your laws
rather than a love for money! - And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.
- Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
- You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
- Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth,
but only the Lord can give an understanding wife. - And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.
- Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice,
an endless river of righteous living. - For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
- You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
- Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
- For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.
- Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
- And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”
- For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
- As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.”

my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident. - A fool is quick-tempered,
but a wise person stays calm when insulted. - An honest witness does not lie;
a false witness breathes lies. - A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
- For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

but he offers his friendship to the godly. - But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.

with roots that reach deep into the water.

or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.Next verse! With image
