Bible Verses about 'Eye for an eye'
- Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?
- But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the human heart conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him” - I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you. - Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love. - If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
- I urge you, brothers and sisters, to keep an eye on those who cause dissensions and offenses, in opposition to the teaching that you have learned; avoid them.
- Look! He is coming with the clouds;
every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him;

So it is to be. Amen. - For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.
- When your eyes light upon it, it is gone;
for suddenly it takes wings to itself,
flying like an eagle toward heaven. - Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.

- For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another.
- Fools show their anger at once,
but the prudent ignore an insult. - Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident. - Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.

even one's prayers are an abomination. - Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

and do not choose any of their ways;
for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence. - But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. - But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you.

- And he said, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
- Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the human heart is fully set to do evil.

but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend. - But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
