- Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye?

my heart will not succumb to fear;
even if war breaks out against me,
I will not have my trust shaken. - Do not envy a violent man
or choose to emulate any of his ways.
For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord
whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright. - Let no one regard you with contempt because of your youth, but serve as an example to the believers in your speech and conduct, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

but a prudent wife is a gift from the Lord. - A man is joyful when he utters apt answers,
and even more satisfying is a word in season. - My son, do not forget my teaching,
but cherish my commandments in your heart,
for they will bring you length of days,
more years of life, and an abundance of prosperity. - Teach me your ways, O Lord,
so that I may walk in your truth;
let me worship your name
with an undivided heart. - Set me as a seal on your heart,
as a seal upon your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
and ardor is as relentless as the netherworld.
Its flames are flashes of fire,
an unending blaze. - Remember that you were once a slave in the land of Egypt. The Lord, your God, brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore, the Lord, your God, has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
- Likewise, you who are husbands must show consideration for your wives in your life together. Treat your wife with respect, for even though she is the weaker partner, she is also an equal heir of God’s gift of life. Thus, your prayers will not be hindered in any way.

for you are a gracious and merciful God. - And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God.
- I will praise you in sincerity of heart
as I ponder your righteous judgments. - The love of the Lord is never exhausted,
nor do his deeds of mercy ever come to an end.
They are renewed every morning;
his faithfulness never ceases. - A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
but an undisciplined tongue crushes the spirit.
