and do not choose any of his ways,
for the devious person is an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence. - But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
- Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
but those who act faithfully are his delight. - Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
- Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
- To make an apt answer is a joy to a man,
and a word in season, how good it is! - And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
- Whoever covers an offense seeks love,
but he who repeats a matter separates close friends. - Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil.
- Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.

great is your faithfulness. - The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
- For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good. - For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
- For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
- He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
