- Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
- I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. - However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him. - If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
- “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen. - But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. - Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone,
for they will surely sprout wings
and fly off to the sky like an eagle. - For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
- To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
- Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
- So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
- Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
- Fools show their annoyance at once,
but the prudent overlook an insult. - But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
- Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident. - I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
- A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—
and how good is a timely word! - But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
- He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
- Whoever would foster love covers over an offense,
but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends. - But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
- This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
- A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
- I will praise you with an upright heart
as I learn your righteous laws. - You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
- For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
- But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.
- Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
- See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

but a false witness pours out lies. - So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.”

even their prayers are detestable. - You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
- When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong.
- Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
- The Lord detests lying lips,
but he delights in people who are trustworthy. - It is to one’s honor to avoid strife,
but every fool is quick to quarrel. - But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
- Houses and wealth are inherited from parents,
but a prudent wife is from the Lord. - God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. - Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name. - Do not envy the violent
or choose any of their ways.
For the Lord detests the perverse
but takes the upright into his confidence. - Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
- But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.
- Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
- And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
- Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
- Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
- A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”Next verse!With image
