- My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord;
neither be weary of his correction:
For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth;
even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. - Every word of God is pure:
he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. - For I know that my redeemer liveth,
and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. - Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him;
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. - And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
- He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
- Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
- And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
- So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
- As far as the east is from the west,
so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. - And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
- I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
- He is despised and rejected of men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not. - And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
- The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:
and he delighteth in his way. - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. - And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
- The Lord is good,
a strong hold in the day of trouble;
and he knoweth them that trust in him. - And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
- For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver,
the Lord is our king;
he will save us. - He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us;
he will subdue our iniquities;
and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord;
and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. - Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
- And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
- Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. He that walketh uprightly,
and worketh righteousness,
and speaketh the truth in his heart.
He that backbiteth not with his tongue,
nor doeth evil to his neighbour,
