He (4/4)

  • Let the wicked change their ways
and banish the very thought of doing wrong.
Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.
Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
  • And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
  • Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.
  • And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
  • In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.
  • I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
  • He was despised and rejected—
a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.
  • When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
  • For the word of the Lord holds true,
and we can trust everything he does.
  • Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.
  • The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
  • The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
  • The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him.
  • When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.
  • He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
  • When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
  • For the Lord is our judge,
    our lawgiver, and our king.
He will care for us and save us.
  • What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.
  • And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.
  • Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
    as something to cling to.
    Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
  • The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
    he is filled with kindness.
  • And he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side. The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’
  • Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
  • He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
  • So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.Next verse! With image
