- When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
- In the blink of an eye wealth disappears,
for it will sprout wings
and fly away like an eagle. - Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. - Worry weighs a person down;
an encouraging word cheers a person up. - Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
- Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
- Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
- And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.”
- This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
- But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. And do not say, ‘By the earth!’ because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the city of the great King.
- Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!”
- Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God
and only later counting the cost. - And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
- No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
- You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
- Fools vent their anger,
but the wise quietly hold it back. - I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.
- Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. - But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
- All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.
- Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
- No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
- I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
- But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.
- Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
