- All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
“Look, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
which means, “God is with us.” - You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you.
- You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.
- This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.
- For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what was promised.
- And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
- I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.
- Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
- Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.
