- The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
he brings low and he exalts. - There is none holy like the Lord:
for there is none besides you;
there is no rock like our God. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
- Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.

And who is a rock, except our God? - This God—his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord proves true;

- I have made a covenant with my eyes;
how then could I gaze at a virgin? - To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

nor sits in the seat of scoffers. - But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
- But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
- Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
cease to do evil. - Learn to do good;
seek justice,
correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow's cause. - Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
- I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth. - For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
- Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
- For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance.
- Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
- All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
- And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
- That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him.
- And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
- For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
- But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
- Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
- In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
- For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
- And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
- The vine dries up;
the fig tree languishes.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple,
all the trees of the field are dried up,
and gladness dries up
from the children of man. - He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
- Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
- He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” - We love because he first loved us.
- They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.
- Judge not, that you be not judged.
- For nothing will be impossible with God.
- Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.
- Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool. - Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
