- The Lord sends poverty and wealth;
he humbles and he exalts. - There is no one holy like the Lord;
there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
- But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
- For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God? - As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him. - How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.

- I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look lustfully at a young woman. - Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

- Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
- He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
- When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.
- Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow. - Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
- Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
- For I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.

says the Lord.

they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.” - Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- The vine is dried up
and the fig tree is withered;
the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree—
all the trees of the field—are dried up.
Surely the people’s joy
is withered away. - I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
- Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
- Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
