- For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
- And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them as their God;
they will be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them;
he will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.” - Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God, and not rather that they should turn from their ways and live?
- Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done.
- Look at the proud!
Their spirit is not right in them,
but the righteous live by their faith. - The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous. - Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- Because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
- Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.
- Speak out, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen.
- Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. - One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple. - But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the human heart conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him” - But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. - So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
- Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
- Arise, shine; for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. - But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.
- When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
- Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.
- For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being.
- Then Peter began to speak to them: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”
- Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.
