Things (3/4)

  • He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else?
  • But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.
  • So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!
  • But the scripture has imprisoned all things under the power of sin, so that what was promised through faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
  • From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this ought not to be so.
  • I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!
  • As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.
  • And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one thing has failed of all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you; all have come to pass for you, not one of them has failed.
  • When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
  • Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common.
  • But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
  • And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
    “See, the home of God is among mortals.
    He will dwell with them as their God;
    they will be his peoples,
    and God himself will be with them;
    he will wipe every tear from their eyes.
    Death will be no more;
    mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
    for the first things have passed away.”
  • And he said, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
  • He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”
  • Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life.
  • Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly.
  • Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
  • The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.
  • The heart is devious above all else;
    it is perverse—
    who can understand it?
    I the Lord test the mind
    and search the heart,
    to give to all according to their ways,
    according to the fruit of their doings.
  • And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.
  • For, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
  • And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
  • Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.
  • Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
  • Therefore do not let anyone condemn you in matters of food and drink or of observing festivals, new moons, or sabbaths. These are only a shadow of what is to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
