Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! - Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight! - But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint. - For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.
- Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.

- The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity,
but it destroys the wicked. - For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
- And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
- And forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us. - So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God.
- Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
Those who refuse to gossip
or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends. - Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.
- Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
- Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.

Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people. - No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
