- For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

and strengthens the powerless. - Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke? - Turn my heart to your decrees,
and not to selfish gain. - Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.
- In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
- I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
- Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior.

and a light to my path. - Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.
- See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone's work.
- I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.
