When (2/4)

  • As I learn your righteous regulations,
    I will thank you by living as I should!
  • But when Jesus heard what had happened, he said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be healed.”
  • When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.
  • But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
  • When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!
  • How wonderful and pleasant it is
    when brothers live together in harmony!
  • That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
  • For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
    as brief as a few night hours.
  • In the night I search for you;
    in the morning I earnestly seek you.
    For only when you come to judge the earth
    will people learn what is right.
  • In those days when you pray, I will listen.
  • But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.
  • But he knows where I am going.
    And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
    For I have stayed on God’s paths;
    I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
  • But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”
  • When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
  • The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!
  • But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
  • But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
  • But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
  • But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
  • Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
  • You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
  • After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.
  • When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.
  • One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”

I will show how holy my great name is—the name on which you brought shame among the nations. And when I reveal my holiness through you before their very eyes, says the Sovereign Lord, then the nations will know that I am the Lord.
