- The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
“I the Lord search the heart
and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.” - Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
- Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.
- I have set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. - Do not toil to acquire wealth;
be discerning enough to desist. - Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable. - In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me? - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
- Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples! - That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ.
- I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
- For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
- Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
- Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.” - How I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house.
- Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.
- For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
- And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
- To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
- Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.
- Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
- Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
- His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
