- When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but whoever restrains his lips is prudent. - Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
- I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. - For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
- Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a reproach to any people. - For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.
- I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah - I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
- But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed. - But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
- Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
cease to do evil. - The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless,
but destruction to evildoers. - This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
- Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
- Whoever keeps the commandment keeps his life;
he who despises his ways will die. - Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.
- Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
- That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
- I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud
and your sins like mist;
return to me, for I have redeemed you. - In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
- You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.
- For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long. - Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
- As far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us. - If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
