Chinese (traditional)To you, O God of my fathers,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of you,
for you have made known to us the king's matter. Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. The wicked earns deceptive wages,
but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion. Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord! Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits. But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Blessed are those who mourn,
for they shall be comforted. Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity
and passing over transgression
for the remnant of his inheritance?
He does not retain his anger forever,
because he delights in steadfast love. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied. Before destruction a man's heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil. For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation. And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. As he came from his mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever! Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples! He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.Next verse!With image
