Chinese (traditional)The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring the good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to prisoners
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free. Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not treat them harshly. And where a single man can be overcome,
two together will be able to resist.
A cord with three strands is not easily broken. Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you. For as it is written,
“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard,
nor has the human heart imagined
what God has prepared for those who love him.” A house and wealth are inherited from parents,
but a prudent wife is a gift from the Lord. For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of your opportunity. Let your speech always be gracious and seasoned with wisdom, so that you will know how to respond properly to all. When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings,
and in times of adversity consider this:
God has made both of them,
so that we cannot predict with confidence
what the future holds. Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ. Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows. The one who leads a blameless life
and does what is right,
who speaks the truth from the heart
and does not slander anyone,
who does not harm a friend
and does not scorn a neighbor. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all is God. You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine. I will walk in complete freedom
because I have sought your commands. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. And if we know that he hears us
in regard to whatever we ask him,
we may be sure
that all we ask of him will be ours. The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? As long as the goodwill is present, the gift will be acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. As servants of God, behave as free people, but do not use your freedom as a means to cover up wrongdoing. The way of God is blameless,
and the Lord’s promise proves true;
he is a shield to all
who flee to him for safety. Let your attitude be identical to that of Christ Jesus. However, now that you have been freed from sin and bound to the service of God, the benefit you receive is sanctification, and the end is eternal life. With his feathers he will shelter you,
and you will take refuge under his wings;
his faithfulness serves as a protective shield. Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To the one seated on the throne
and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might
forever and ever.” For the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to the entire human race. It teaches us to reject godless ways and worldly desires, and in the present age to lead lives that are temperate, just, and godly. My deliverance and my glory depend on God;
he is my mighty rock and my refuge. Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives
do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled;
be not afraid. They will never again experience hunger or thirst,
nor will the sun or any scorching heat cause them discomfort.
For the Lamb who is at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd.
He will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. I will give thanks to you among the peoples, O Lord;
I will sing your praises among the nations. I can do all things in him who strengthens me. Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.”
